Jakarta, ThedailyID — Singapore and Malaysia share second place in the Global Passport Power Rank 2026, released on September 29, 2026.
Both passports recorded a Mobility Score of 175. The United Arab Emirates ranked first with a score of 182.
The ranking comes from Passport Index. It measures passport strength based on the number of destinations travelers can access through different entry arrangements.
These include visa-free travel, visa on arrival, electronic travel authorization (eTA) and eVisa issued within three days.
Singapore recorded a Mobility Score of 175. Passport Index lists 129 destinations as visa-free and 35 destinations as offering visa on arrival.
Singaporean passport holders can also access 11 destinations through eTA. Meanwhile, 23 destinations still require a visa.
Malaysia also recorded a Mobility Score of 175. Its passport provides access to 121 visa-free destinations and 46 destinations with visa on arrival.
Malaysia also has access to eight destinations through eTA. Another 23 destinations require visas.
Several other Asian countries also placed near the top of the 2026 ranking. Japan ranked third, while South Korea ranked fourth.
The United Arab Emirates topped the global ranking. It also became the highest-ranked Asian country with a Mobility Score of 182.
The top five Asian countries in the ranking were:
- United Arab Emirates, 1st
- Singapore, 2nd
- Malaysia, 2nd
- Japan, 3rd
- South Korea, 4th
The ranking shows that several Asian passports offer broad international travel access under the Passport Index methodology.
Indonesia ranked 56th globally in the latest Global Passport Power Rank. Its passport recorded a Mobility Score of 89.
According to Passport Index, Indonesian passport holders can access destinations through several travel arrangements. These include visa-free entry and visa on arrival.
The Indonesia Passport Dashboard currently lists 42 visa-free destinations. It also records 40 destinations with visa on arrival and seven with eTA.
A total of 109 destinations still require Indonesian passport holders to obtain a visa.
