Jakarta, ThedailyID — WeTV Indonesia has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the growth of Indonesia’s creative economy through local content investment, intellectual property development, and talent empowerment.
The commitment aligns with a memorandum of understanding signed by Tencent and Indonesia’s Ministry of Creative Economy during the World Conference on Creative Economy (WCCE) 2026 in Jakarta on October 21.
Over the past six years, WeTV has produced more than 57 local Original series. The productions have involved over 10,000 crew members and creative talents across Indonesia.
Each production also supports a wider economic ecosystem. Writers, directors, actors, and production crews work alongside businesses in transportation, accommodation, catering, location rentals, fashion, and other creative services.
“For WeTV, investing in local content is not only about delivering quality entertainment, but also about building a sustainable industry,” said Febriamy Hutapea, Country Head of WeTV Indonesia.
She added that every production creates opportunities for creative workers and supporting sectors while generating a broader economic impact.
WeTV also continues to develop local intellectual property with the potential to reach wider audiences, including international markets. The platform works with Indonesian production houses and creators to bring locally relevant stories to digital audiences.
Beyond content production, WeTV has built more than 50 distribution channels with telecommunications companies, internet service providers, e-commerce platforms, and payment services.
The partnerships aim to expand access to digital entertainment, including for audiences outside major cities. Through WeTV and Tencent’s network, Indonesian content also has opportunities to reach global viewers.
“The first six years have provided an important foundation for WeTV’s journey in Indonesia,” Febriamy said.
“Moving forward, we want to continue bringing strong local stories, creating more opportunities for creative talent, and helping Indonesian IP reach global markets.”
WeTV said it will continue collaborating with industry players and supporting the growth of Indonesia’s creative ecosystem through content development, talent opportunities, and wider distribution.
