Transaction Growth and Expanding Warehouse Receipt Ecosystem: PT KBI Strengthens the Integrity of Commodity Trade Finance

Jakarta, Thedaily.id – PT Kliring Berjangka Indonesia (Persero), also known as PT KBI, continues to strengthen its role in safeguarding financial integrity and building trust in Indonesia’s national commodity futures trading industry. Through the optimization of its clearing and transaction guarantee services, the development of the Warehouse Receipt System (WRS), and various community empowerment programs, PT KBI is committed to fostering a secure, transparent, and sustainable trading ecosystem.

This commitment is increasingly important amid industry dynamics and the growing demand among market participants for transaction certainty and transparency. PT KBI ensures that all clearing and guarantee processes are carried out in accordance with applicable regulations, prudential principles, and good corporate governance practices.

“Market participants’ trust is a responsibility that we uphold every day. Every transaction we clear and guarantee is conducted in accordance with applicable regulations, properly recorded, and fully accountable. For us, transparency and accountability are not merely commitments but fundamental working standards,” said Adiyasa Suhadibroto, Director of Finance and Risk Management and concurrently Acting President Director of PT KBI (Persero).

This commitment is also reflected in the company’s business performance. As of October 2026, PT KBI had cleared a total of 9.27 million lots of Commodity Futures Trading (CFT) transactions, representing a 2.6% year-on-year (YoY) increase compared to the same period in 2025. The Loco and Commodity Alternative Trading System (SPA) segments recorded transaction growth of 12.7%. Meanwhile, domestic physical tin market transactions also showed a positive trend, growing by 17.68% year-on-year.

PT KBI, together with the Commodity Futures Trading Regulatory Agency (BAPPEBTI), continues to promote the implementation of the Warehouse Receipt System (WRS) through collaboration with an increasingly diverse range of stakeholders, including the Financial Services Authority (OJK), local governments, banks, business players, and international partners. These collaborations have strengthened the WRS ecosystem, as reflected in a 10.6% increase in the number of new warehouse operators between January and October 2026. The ecosystem covers a wide range of commodities, including sugar, coffee, tobacco, unhulled rice and milled rice, as well as seaweed.

PT KBI also supported the launch of the e-Seaweed Platform in South Sulawesi on September 23–24, 2026. This initiative was jointly developed by the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Government of Switzerland through the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), with support from OJK and national and regional stakeholders.

The platform records seaweed farmers’ activities in real time, covering the entire process from cultivation and transactions to warehouse operations. This enables farmers’ business data to be verified and used as a basis for WRS utilization and more inclusive access to financing. As the Registration Center, PT KBI ensures that every Warehouse Receipt is properly recorded and verified through the IS-Ware Next Gen system.

“Warehouse Receipts are more than just storage instruments; they provide farmers and commodity business players with opportunities to access financing and broader markets. Through WRS development and digital recording initiatives such as the e-Seaweed Platform, commodity data becomes more verifiable and can serve as a foundation of trust for banks and buyers,” Adiyasa added.

In addition to carrying out its strategic role in the commodity trading industry, PT KBI also strives to generate positive social and environmental impacts through its Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility (CSER) programs, which are aligned with the company’s core business. These programs are designed to promote community economic empowerment, strengthen food security, and support environmental conservation across various regions.

One of the company’s flagship initiatives is the Integrated Farming System (IFS): Soybean Farmer Independence Program. Now entering its third year since its launch in 2023, the program has reached its fourth batch and is being implemented in Sukoharjo and Klaten Regencies. To date, IFS has involved 73 local farmers, covering a total of 10 hectares of productive agricultural land. Through an integrated farming approach, the program aims to improve farmers’ capabilities while building a more independent and economically valuable agricultural business ecosystem.

PT KBI’s commitment to environmental sustainability is also reflected in its coffee reforestation program in Garut Regency. The program integrates efforts to restore degraded land through coffee tree planting with the empowerment of local farmers. As a result, the expected benefits extend beyond increased vegetation coverage to include improved productivity and greater economic value for coffee commodities, benefiting local communities.

Going forward, PT KBI will continue to strengthen the quality of its clearing and guarantee services, accelerate digitalization, and expand collaboration with all stakeholders.

Through these initiatives, PT KBI remains committed to supporting the development of a more credible, competitive, and sustainable national commodity market while creating added value for Indonesia’s economy.
