TikTok GO by Tokopedia Bets on Content-Driven Commerce to Boost Local Merchants

Jakarta, ThedailyID — TikTok launched TikTok GO by Tokopedia, a new service linking content discovery with real-world visits. The feature aims to turn food inspiration on TikTok into actual dine-in traffic, while helping local merchants and creators grow.

The launch reflects changing user behavior, where short-form content now shapes daily decisions, including where people eat. TikTok GO combines videos, LIVE, search, local feeds, and location-based content into one discovery ecosystem.

The service arrives as Indonesia’s food and beverage sector continues to expand. Data shows the country had 5.28 million food businesses in 2024. Around 25 million MSMEs have also joined digital platforms to expand their reach.

TikTok says around 65% of Indonesians use digital platforms to discover new culinary options. The company sees this as a major opportunity to connect content, commerce, and offline visits.

Creative Economy Minister Teuku Riefky Harsya welcomed the initiative, saying it supports Indonesia’s creative economy and local dine-in businesses.

William Panjaitan, Lead of Key Dine-in Merchant at TikTok GO by Tokopedia, said search related to local services has grown more than 60% annually on the platform. He said TikTok is increasingly becoming a “taste catalog” where users search for food inspiration.

TikTok GO has already posted strong growth. The company said daily dine-in merchant orders rose more than 20-fold throughout 2025, showing growing traction for content-driven commerce.

The platform also expands opportunities for merchants. Businesses can gain more visibility, drive offline visits, and generate additional orders through creator-led content and integrated promotions.

Local brand Roti’O said the service helps turn online discovery into store traffic. The company said the model improves visibility while attracting more customers to outlets.

Creators also play a growing role in the ecosystem. TikTok said its TikTok GO creator network in Indonesia grew 12 times in 2025, as demand rises for trusted and authentic recommendations.

To support the ecosystem, TikTok GO held its first Partner Summit in Indonesia on April 29. The event gathered merchants, creators, and partners while introducing new programs and growth plans.

The company said it aims to empower tens of thousands of dine-in businesses through incentives, digital training, and promotional support across 2026.

New merchants joining the platform will receive product subsidies, stronger visibility, and creator collaboration support. TikTok says the approach can help brands build credibility faster and increase orders.

TikTok GO also introduced “Buy with Ease, Refund Anytime,” allowing unused vouchers to be refunded automatically. The feature is designed to improve trust and user experience.

TikTok says its broader goal is to become a trusted local services platform, while strengthening links between creators, merchants, and communities in Indonesia’s digital economy.
