Jakarta, ThedailyID — Tiong Bahru Bakery, the Singapore artisan bakery best known for its buttery croissants and handcrafted sourdough, will open its first Indonesian outlet in Jakarta on August 5. The new store is located at the main lobby of Summarecon Mall Kelapa Gading 3.
The opening marks the bakery’s first expansion into Indonesia after building a strong following in Singapore. The company aims to introduce its signature bakery experience while creating a community-focused space for Jakarta residents.
Founded in 2012, Tiong Bahru Bakery began as a neighbourhood bakery in Singapore’s historic Tiong Bahru district. Since then, it has expanded to multiple locations while maintaining its focus on artisan baking, specialty coffee, and community engagement.
The Jakarta outlet carries the brand’s campaign, “Bring on the Bahru,” which reflects its commitment to introducing fresh experiences without losing the warmth that defines the bakery. The concept centres on three pillars: building community, creating memorable customer experiences, and serving freshly baked artisan products every day.
Like its Singapore locations, the Jakarta store takes inspiration from its surrounding neighbourhood. The bakery says each outlet is designed to reflect its local community, embracing its philosophy of “Croissant in hand, community at heart.”
“Jakarta is our first city in Indonesia, and we chose Kelapa Gading because of its strong community and reputation as a destination for families and food lovers,” Elvin Rahardja, Director of Tiong Bahru Bakery Indonesia, said in a statement.
“We hope Tiong Bahru Bakery becomes part of people’s daily lives, not only as a place to enjoy quality bakery products but also as a space where people connect and create experiences that keep them coming back,” he added.
To celebrate the launch, the company plans to work with local artists, creators, and lifestyle communities across Kelapa Gading. It also intends to introduce seasonal menu items inspired by feedback from the surrounding community.
Through its Indonesian debut, Tiong Bahru Bakery hopes to establish itself as more than a bakery. The company aims to become a neighbourhood destination where customers can gather, work, meet friends, or simply enjoy freshly baked pastries and coffee.
