Jakarta, ThedailyID — Indonesia’s National Nutrition Agency (BGN) plans to launch a new online portal that will allow parents to monitor the daily menus served under the government’s Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme.
The agency expects to roll out the platform within the next one to two weeks. Officials say the system will improve transparency and help parents understand what meals their children receive at school.
According to BGN Head Sudaryono, parents will be able to view daily menus, food photos, and nutritional information through the portal. The platform will also display previous and upcoming meal schedules.
“We are preparing a portal where schools and parents can check what menu their children receive, see photos of the meals, and review the nutritional content,” Sudaryono said after a coordination meeting at the Coordinating Ministry for Food on Wednesday, July 29.
In addition, the portal will identify the Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG) responsible for preparing each meal. Parents will also be able to see the kitchen’s address and the name of the SPPG head.
Sudaryono said the initiative aims to give parents direct access to information about the meals provided by the government. He added that the platform will also reduce misinformation surrounding the MBG programme on social media.
“Different interpretations can spread quickly on social media and create misleading information. Therefore, we are developing this system,” he said.
BGN also expects the portal to strengthen quality control across the programme. The agency wants every SPPG to follow standard operating procedures and consistently provide nutritious meals that meet quality and quantity standards.
