Jakarta, ThedailyID — Netzme became one of the first payment service providers participating in the Indonesia-China cross-border QRIS rollout.
The integration expands digital payment access for Indonesian users, tourists, and MSMEs. It also strengthens QRIS as a cross-border payment infrastructure instead of only a domestic payment system.
Through the system, Indonesian users can make payments at merchants in China using Netzme Pay. Meanwhile, merchants partnered with Netzme in Indonesia can accept payments from Chinese users through platforms such as Alipay and UnionPay.
The initiative supports collaboration between Bank Indonesia and the People’s Bank of China to improve payment connectivity and encourage local currency transactions.
Netzme CEO Vicky G. Saputra said the system helps Indonesian MSMEs become more prepared to serve global customers, especially tourists from China.
“This infrastructure makes Indonesian MSMEs more ready to serve international consumers,” Vicky stated.
The first implementation phase officially started on April 30, 2026.
On the issuer side, Indonesian users can scan QR codes through Netzme Pay while shopping in China. On the acquiring side, merchants using Toko Netzme can receive payments from Chinese tourists through connected payment applications.
Netzme stated that QRIS adoption continues growing rapidly across Indonesia.
According to Bank Indonesia, QRIS has reached 44 million merchants and 61.7 million users as of the first quarter of 2026. Most participating merchants come from the MSME sector.
Inbound QRIS transactions reportedly reached 2.79 million transactions worth Rp713.59 billion during the same period. Meanwhile, outbound transactions reached 737,647 transactions worth Rp249.26 billion.
Netzme also plans to expand implementation during the grand launching of Indonesia-China cross-border QRIS in Shanghai in June 2026.
In addition, the company launched a merchant appreciation program called “QRIS Soundbox Goes Global, Gratis Trip ke China!”
The program offers selected merchants an opportunity to visit China and experience the country’s digital payment ecosystem directly.
Netzme said the initiative aims to help business owners understand how digital transformation can expand access to international customers.
