NAZA Documentary to Screen in 50 Countries, Including Indonesia

The Guardian, which also produced the documentary, plans to make NAZA available for free on its website after the cinema release.

Variety reported the global release on September 24. In the United States, audiences can watch the film in cinemas from September 30.

The international release covers France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Greece, Portugal, Poland, Lithuania, Romania, and Bulgaria.

Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Thailand, Canada, Brazil, and Turkey will also screen the film. The release will also cover Central America and the Middle East.

Italy will hold a special three-day screening event. NAZA will play on 500 cinema screens from September 28 to 30.

The Guardian has also offered the film to several distributors and cinemas in Israel. The publication will explore other ways to bring NAZA to audiences in Palestinian territories.

“We made this film because we felt obligated to use our position as Israeli filmmakers and journalists to examine the system behind the mass killing of Palestinian civilians for which our country is responsible,” creators Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor said.

Abraham and Szor filmed Israeli military activity from rooftops in Tel Aviv at night. They worked on the project for three years.

During the process, they said they began asking questions about dehumanization. They also examined how one group could allow another group to face such treatment.

The filmmakers said NAZA allowed them to explore issues beyond investigative journalism. The film examines both what people say and what remains unspoken.

NAZA premiered at the Venice Film Festival on September 10, 2026. The audience gave the documentary a 24.5-minute standing ovation.

That response broke the festival’s previous record. The Voice of Hind Rajab held the earlier record after receiving 22 minutes of applause in 2025.

NAZA also won the Special Jury Prize at the 2026 Venice Film Festival.

The documentary explores Israel’s military actions in Gaza and their impact on Palestinian civilians. The film also examines the role of the Israeli government and military system during the conflict.

The title NAZA comes from the Hebrew phrase “nezek agavi.” The documentary says the Israeli Defense Forces use the term to estimate potential civilian deaths from airstrikes as collateral damage.
