Jakarta, ThedailyID — PT Mitra Stania Prima (MSP), a subsidiary of Arsari Tambang, has received the PROPER Gold Award, Indonesia’s highest environmental recognition, for its commitment to sustainable mining practices.
The award, presented by the Ministry of Environment, recognizes companies that go beyond regulatory compliance in environmental management while delivering positive social and economic impacts.
MSP earned the recognition through environmental initiatives, community development programs, and sustainable operational practices across its mining and processing activities.
Arsari Tambang CEO Aryo P. S. Djojohadikusumo said the achievement reflects a broader transformation within the company. He emphasized that sustainability now serves as a core business strategy rather than a regulatory requirement.
“We do not just want to meet standards. We want to exceed them,” Aryo said on June 8. He added that cleaner air quality around operational areas demonstrates the company’s commitment to reducing environmental impacts.
The company has also aligned its long-term strategy with net-zero ambitions. According to Aryo, MSP aims to eliminate air and water pollution while strengthening environmental performance throughout its operations.
As part of that effort, MSP plans to transition its smelter facilities to 100% renewable energy. The move would mark a major milestone for Indonesia’s tin processing industry as it works toward lower carbon emissions and greater global competitiveness.
Aryo described the renewable energy target as more than a technical goal. He said it represents a long-term commitment to environmental stewardship and responsible industrial growth.
Beyond downstream operations, MSP has expanded sustainability initiatives across its mining sites. Several mining units have already achieved Green PROPER status and are now working toward Gold PROPER certification.
The company plans to support that goal through the deployment of zero-emission heavy equipment and the electrification of production processes. These measures aim to reduce operational emissions while improving efficiency.
Aryo stressed that integrity remains the foundation of MSP’s sustainability journey. He noted that strong governance and responsible business practices are essential for achieving long-term environmental and social goals.
The award highlights growing efforts within Indonesia’s mining sector to balance resource development with environmental responsibility. It also reflects increasing industry focus on renewable energy, emission reductions, and sustainable business practices.
