Jakarta, ThedailyID — Four senior Indonesian police generals have been named suspects in an alleged illegal wiretapping operation targeting President Prabowo Subianto. The surveillance allegedly bypassed established law enforcement procedures and extended to other state officials, politicians, businesspeople, journalists, and public figures.
The four suspects are former National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, Inspector General Ahrie Sonta Nasution, Inspector General Eko Hadi Santoso, and Inspector General Slamet Uliandi.
Investigators suspect that the operation involved entering phone numbers into the police’s Lawful Interception Management System (LIMS) without proper verification or authorization.
Three suspects, Listyo Sigit, Ahrie Sonta, and Eko Hadi, have been detained at the National Police Headquarters’ Mobile Brigade detention facility. Meanwhile, Slamet has not been detained because he is recovering from a stroke.
However, investigators have yet to disclose the precise actions attributed to each of the first three suspects. Their suspected roles have only been partially explained.
1. Listyo Sigit Prabowo
Investigators have not detailed Listyo’s specific role in the alleged operation. National Police Criminal Investigation Agency Chief Commissioner General Asep Safrudin said the suspected surveillance took place between 2025 and 2026.
The suspects allegedly ordered phone numbers to be entered into police surveillance equipment without proper verification. Some of the numbers reportedly belonged to Prabowo.
“These numbers were intercepted without any connection to, or any law enforcement process,” Asep said at a press conference on November 3.
Investigators also suspect that files containing intercepted data were deleted in October 2026. However, they have not explained Listyo’s specific involvement in the alleged deletion.
2. Ahrie Sonta Nasution
Ahrie’s suspected involvement is linked to his former position as Head of the Monitoring Division. The position reportedly involved provisioning, or operating the surveillance system.
Investigators have not disclosed the specific actions he allegedly performed. However, Ahrie’s name also appeared in the suspected deletion of digital surveillance records.
In early October 2026, he allegedly requested permission from Slamet Uliandi to delete the intercepted files.
3. Eko Hadi Santoso
Eko also allegedly became involved through his position as Head of the Monitoring Division. Investigators identified him and Ahrie as officials responsible for carrying out the provisioning process.
Both allegedly needed approval from Slamet before conducting surveillance operations. However, authorities have yet to provide further details about Eko’s individual actions.
4. Slamet Uliandi
Unlike the other three suspects, investigators have disclosed more details about Slamet’s alleged role. Police Cybercrime Directorate Chief Brigadier General Suhermanto said Slamet served as the supervisor of the central Monitoring Center.
In that position, he allegedly had the authority to approve surveillance operations conducted by Ahrie and Eko.
“To date, the Heads of Monitoring, suspects EH and AS, must obtain permission from SU before carrying out provisioning or wiretapping,” Suhermanto said during a press conference on Thursday, November 5.
Investigators also linked Slamet to the suspected deletion of surveillance records. According to Suhermanto, Ahrie requested his approval in early October to delete the intercepted files.
“Suspect AS requested permission from SU to delete the interception records, and suspect SU approved the deletion of the files collected during the operation,” Suhermanto said.
The investigation remains ongoing. Authorities have yet to disclose the full scope of the alleged surveillance operation or the individual roles of all four suspects.
