Jakarta, ThedailyID — Music streaming platform Deezer is introducing a feature that lets users filter out fully AI-generated music. The option will remove detected AI songs, albums, and artists from search results and homepage recommendations.
The feature aims to help listeners discover music created by human artists without AI-generated tracks appearing in their recommendations or playlists. Users can switch the filter on or off based on their preferences.
However, the filter will only target music generated entirely by AI. Tracks created by humans with assistance from AI tools may still appear on the platform.
Deezer has been developing its detection system since 2025. Since January that year, the company has detected and excluded more than 42 million AI-generated tracks and 14 million albums from its recommendations.
The move follows complaints from users on Deezer’s community forums and Reddit. Many have called for AI-generated music to be removed from their recommendations.
“We have seen clear user demand for the ability to filter AI-generated music,” Deezer CEO Alexis Lanternier said, according to TechCrunch. “We are now giving everyone the option to completely remove this content from their streaming experience on Deezer and focus only on human creators and their work, if they wish.”
The scale of AI music uploads has also raised concerns. In July, Deezer said that more than 50% of the tracks uploaded to its platform were AI-generated. The company reported receiving an average of 90,000 such uploads per day.
Deezer says the filter will give listeners greater control over their streaming experience. The company also expects the measure to help prevent people from exploiting monetization systems through AI-generated music.
The feature is expected to become available before the end of 2026. Deezer has not indicated that the filter will remove AI-assisted music created with human involvement.
