Jakarta, ThedailyID — PT Bayu Buana Gemilang (BBG) began delivering natural gas from East Java to West Java through the Cirebon–Semarang (Cisem) pipeline on September 4, 2026. This milestone strengthens the distribution of domestic natural gas across Java.
BBG is among the gas shippers using the Cisem pipeline to transport supplies from East Java to West Java. The company carries out these deliveries under a Gas Transportation Agreement with PT Pertamina Gas (Pertagas).
Under the agreement, BBG has a Daily Reserved Capacity of 3 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD). Therefore, the company can use the pipeline to support gas distribution to demand centers in West Java.
The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources also asked BBG to support the Cisem II pipeline section connecting Batang in Central Java with Kandang Haur Timur (KHT) in West Java.
In a letter dated September 3, 2026, the ministry requested several preparatory activities. These included dynamic testing of the KHT gas metering system and end-to-end cleaning pigging along the Batang–KHT section. The ministry also requested that gas deliveries proceed after the preparations.
Following these instructions, BBG began flowing gas through the pipeline on September 4. Meanwhile, commissioning of the gas metering system was completed on September 6, 2026.
The Cisem II pipeline stretches approximately 242 kilometers. It connects Batang, Central Java, with KHT, West Java. As a result, the infrastructure helps move natural gas between supply sources and areas with growing demand.
Moreover, the pipeline supports stronger connections between Indonesia’s domestic gas supply and industrial consumers. Its operation also provides additional infrastructure for distributing natural gas across regions.
BBG’s participation in the Cisem pipeline project reflects its contribution to domestic gas utilization. It also supports the development of national energy infrastructure and connectivity.
