Jakarta, ThedailyID — Indonesia climbed four places in the latest FIFA rankings after defeating Oman 3-0 in a FIFA Matchday friendly at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium on June 5.
The victory boosted the Garuda squad’s FIFA points total to 1,151.45. As a result, Indonesia moved up to 118th in the world rankings, continuing its steady rise under the national team’s recent development program.
The win over Oman marked one of Indonesia’s most convincing results in recent months. Besides strengthening confidence within the squad, the result also delivered valuable ranking points because Oman entered the match as a higher-ranked opponent.
Indonesia remains one of the fastest-rising teams in Southeast Asia. The latest jump keeps the Garuda within striking distance of several teams ranked above them in Asia and strengthens their position ahead of upcoming international competitions.
However, Indonesia’s ranking could improve even further in the coming days. The national team will face Mozambique in another FIFA Matchday fixture on June 9.
Mozambique currently sits 101st in the FIFA rankings, making the match another important opportunity for Indonesia to collect valuable points. A victory over the African side would likely increase Indonesia’s ranking total and could push the team closer to the world’s top 110 nations.
The match will also serve as another test for head coach Patrick Kluivert as he continues building the squad ahead of future regional and continental tournaments. Strong performances during FIFA Matchday windows remain crucial because they directly affect ranking calculations and tournament seedings.
Indonesia’s recent progress reflects the team’s growing competitiveness on the international stage. With another positive result against Mozambique, the Garuda could continue its upward momentum and strengthen its standing in world football.
