Marc Marquez Admits He Couldn’t Match the Pace at British MotoGP

Jakarta, ThedailyID — Marc Marquez admitted he could not compete with the front-runners at the British MotoGP, saying a seventh-place finish was the best result he could realistically achieve at Silverstone.

The Ducati rider said his bike and tires performed well throughout the race. However, he struggled to find the pace needed to challenge the faster riders, particularly those on Aprilia machinery.

“The bike worked well, and so did the tires. But today I couldn’t find a better way to ride, and seventh was the best result we could expect on paper,” Marquez said.

He added that, in the most optimistic scenario, he believed a top-five finish was possible. Even so, he and his team failed to unlock the performance needed to reach that target.

Marquez also finished behind two fellow Ducati riders. His younger brother Alex Marquez crossed the line in fourth, while Fabio Di Giannantonio secured sixth using the same Ducati package.

Reflecting on the result, Marquez accepted responsibility for his performance.

“I have to blame myself. Last year, when I was at my best, Alex was still faster than me at this circuit,” he said.

He also praised Alex’s performance, acknowledging that his brother handled the Ducati more effectively around Silverstone.

“Alex rode the bike better than us. We are using the same motorcycle,” Marquez added.

The disappointing result came as Jorge Martin delivered another strong performance, extending his lead in the MotoGP championship standings.

Marquez now sits second with 200 points, trailing championship leader Martin by 40 points after the British Grand Prix.
