Jakarta, ThedailyID — A total of 42 flights at Juanda International Airport in Sidoarjo, East Java, were canceled on Sunday (06/09/2026) amid disruptions linked to the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau.
Juanda International Airport General Manager Muhammad Tohir said the eruption first affected operations at Soekarno-Hatta, Halim Perdanakusuma and Radin Inten II airports before creating a wider impact on Juanda.
“Based on the latest operational conditions, 42 flights have been canceled,” Tohir said on Sunday (06/09/2026).
According to Tohir, operational adjustments at the affected airports created a domino effect on flight connectivity and aircraft rotations. As a result, several flights at Juanda also faced disruptions.
“These conditions then created a chain effect on connectivity and flight rotations, which also affected part of the operations at Juanda International Airport,” he said.
Meanwhile, Juanda Airport continues to coordinate with airlines and other stakeholders to manage the operational changes. The airport is also monitoring conditions closely to maintain services for passengers.
To assist affected passengers, Juanda Airport has provided snacks and drinks through its Service Recovery Activation program.
Airport Security, Terminal Inspector and Customer Service personnel have also been deployed across the terminal. They are assisting passengers with information and other needs related to the disrupted flights.
Tohir urged passengers to check their flight status regularly through their airlines’ official channels. Passengers can also contact Angkasa Pura Indonesia’s Contact Center at 172 for the latest information.

The airport emphasized that safety, security and passenger comfort remain its priorities during the operational adjustments. Tohir also apologized for any inconvenience caused by the cancellations.
