Jakarta, ThedailyID — Uber officially launched “Uber Drift” in Tokyo, offering tourists an exclusive chance to experience Japan’s legendary drifting culture with professional Formula Drift drivers.
Unlike regular drifting attractions that mainly focus on adrenaline rides, Uber Drift highlights the authentic Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) culture closely tied to Japan’s street racing community, mountain pass or touge racing scenes, and iconic tuner cars from the 1990s.
Through the program, participants will first receive pickup service using Uber Black before traveling from Tokyo to Mobara Twin Circuit, a technical racing track known for its tight corners and popularity among Japanese drifters.
At the circuit, participants can experience high-speed tandem drifting sessions as passengers alongside professional drivers inside iconic JDM cars such as the Nissan 180SX and Nissan Silvia S15.
Uber introduced the experience as part of its global “Go Anywhere” initiative, which previously featured tourism programs including African safaris and hot air balloon rides in Turkey.
The Uber Drift package costs around 30,000 Japanese yen, or approximately Rp3.3 million, and became available for booking through the Uber app starting May 27.
Meanwhile, the experience will run between June 3 and July 1 with limited daily slots available for participants.
The launch quickly attracted attention online, especially among car enthusiasts and fans of Japanese automotive culture.
Many users praised the concept because it combines tourism, motorsport, and authentic underground drifting culture into one experience.
