Jakarta, ThedailyID — Prabowo Subianto met with Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace in Paris to discuss defense, clean energy, education, investment, and geopolitical stability.
During the meeting, Prabowo said Indonesia and France already share a comprehensive strategic partnership that both countries plan to strengthen further in the coming years.
According to Prabowo, future cooperation between Indonesia and France should become more concrete, balanced, and impactful across multiple sectors.
The leaders discussed several strategic issues including defense cooperation, clean energy development, education, research, and the implementation of the Indonesia-European Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (Indonesia-European Union CEPA).
Prabowo also thanked Macron for supporting efforts to accelerate the agreement’s progress.
Meanwhile, Prabowo expressed optimism about increasing investment collaboration between both countries and welcomed the formation of the France-Indonesia High Level Business Council.
He emphasized that Indonesia remains open to greater participation from French companies in the country’s economy.
Prabowo also described France as an important European leader that continues playing a major role in Southeast Asia.
Beyond economic cooperation, both leaders discussed geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and agreed that regional stability remains essential for global energy security and supply chains.
Prabowo stated that instability in the Middle East could directly affect global energy conditions and international trade routes.
The Indonesian president also praised France for supporting the two-state solution regarding Palestine.
According to Prabowo, Indonesia shares the same position and believes lasting peace in the Middle East cannot happen without justice for Palestinians and the establishment of a two-state solution.
The meeting reflected Indonesia’s ongoing efforts to strengthen diplomatic and economic partnerships with major global powers amid growing international uncertainty.
