Jakarta, ThedailyID — U.S. President Donald Trump claimed the United Nations would inspect Iran’s nuclear facilities following the recent ceasefire. However, Tehran quickly rejected the statement and insisted it had not agreed to any new inspections.
Trump made the remarks while speaking to reporters after announcing that Israel and Iran had reached a ceasefire agreement. He said international inspectors would soon examine Iran’s nuclear sites to assess the country’s nuclear program.
“I think we’ll have inspections,” Trump said. He also claimed the inspections would be carried out by the United Nations or the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
However, Iranian officials immediately dismissed the claim. Tehran said it had not reached any agreement allowing new inspections of its nuclear facilities.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei stressed that no arrangement exists regarding additional inspections. He also rejected claims that Iran had accepted new conditions after the recent conflict.
Meanwhile, Iranian authorities accused Israel and the United States of damaging diplomatic efforts by launching military strikes against Iranian nuclear facilities during the conflict.
The disagreement comes as tensions remain high despite the ceasefire. While Trump has expressed optimism about future diplomacy, Iran continues to insist that any discussion about its nuclear program must respect its sovereignty and existing international agreements.
The IAEA has monitored Iran’s nuclear activities for years under existing safeguards. However, the agency has not announced any new inspection agreement following the latest ceasefire.
