PPATK Identifies Greater Jakarta as Center of Indonesia's Online Gambling Activity

Jakarta, ThedailyID — Greater Jakarta has emerged as one of Indonesia’s largest online gambling hubs, according to new data released by the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK).

The agency mapped online gambling activity across the country throughout 2025. It found that most of the regions with the highest number of players are located in Jakarta, West Java, and Banten.

PPATK said the Greater Jakarta area forms the country’s largest cluster of online gambling activity. The findings highlight how deeply online gambling has spread across densely populated urban areas.

Bogor Regency recorded the highest number of online gambling players nationwide. Authorities identified 103,092 players who deposited a combined Rp414.4 billion.

Meanwhile, West Jakarta ranked second with 89,320 players. The area recorded the highest transaction value among the top regions, reaching Rp600.6 billion.

East Jakarta followed in third place with 81,750 players and Rp425.9 billion in deposits. Bandung ranked fourth with 80,549 players and total deposits of Rp341.7 billion.

Overall, four of the top 10 regions came from Jakarta, four from West Java, and two from Banten. As a result, PPATK concluded that Greater Jakarta has become the country’s primary online gambling cluster.

The agency also analyzed activity at the district level. Cengkareng in West Jakarta recorded the highest number of players with 21,497 people. Cakung in East Jakarta followed with 14,664 players, while Tanjung Priok in North Jakarta recorded 13,769 players.

In addition, Kebayoran Lama in South Jakarta reported 9,948 players. Bekasi Utara rounded out the list with 7,793 players.

PPATK warned that online gambling is no longer a distant or isolated problem. Instead, the practice has reached neighborhoods, schools, universities, workplaces, and local communities across Indonesia.

The agency also found that adults aged 20 to 30 made up the largest group of online gambling players. Those aged 31 to 40 ranked second, while men accounted for the majority of players.

According to PPATK, the trend is especially concerning because it affects people in their most productive working years.
