Jakarta, ThedailyID — US President Donald Trump attacked Democratic Senate candidate Mohammed El Sayed in a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, on Wednesday, October 7.
Trump compared El Sayed with Republican candidate Mike Rogers, whom he endorsed in the Michigan Senate race.
“Mohammed El Sayed is a bad candidate for the Democrats. His opponent, Mike Rogers, is incredibly good,” Trump wrote.
Trump then described El Sayed as a “radical extremist” and “terrorist sympathizer.” He also compared him to Hasan Piker, whom Trump accused of hating the United States.
Trump went on to say that El Sayed’s values do not align with those of Michigan residents or Americans.
“He is wrong for Michigan, and wrong for America. Vote for Mike Rogers. He has my full endorsement and will never let you down!” Trump wrote.
Trump has repeatedly criticized El Sayed since the Democratic candidate entered the Michigan Senate race. El Sayed, however, said he would rather focus on policy issues than Trump’s attacks.
“I invite the president to focus on what I am saying. I want to get money out of politics, money back in your wallets, and pass Medicare,” El Sayed said, according to CNN.
El Sayed won the Democratic primary in August after defeating Wayne County officials, according to the source. He previously ran for governor of Michigan in 2018 but lost.
The latest exchange adds another political clash between Trump and a Democratic candidate ahead of the Michigan Senate race.
