Jakarta, ThedailyID — Indonesian citizens generally do not need a visa to visit Singapore for a short trip. However, visa-free entry does not guarantee admission, as travelers must still meet Singapore’s immigration requirements.
Before booking flights and accommodation, Indonesian travelers should check their passport validity, complete the required arrival declaration and prepare supporting travel documents.
According to Singapore’s Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA), visa requirements depend on the country or territory that issued a travel document. Indonesian ordinary passport holders are generally not required to obtain a visa for short visits.
Travelers must still satisfy the immigration officer upon arrival, who makes the final decision on entry.
Indonesian visitors should prepare the following before traveling to Singapore:
- Passport validity: Ensure the passport is valid for at least six months when entering Singapore.
- SG Arrival Card: Submit the electronic arrival declaration within three days before arrival, including the arrival date.
- Return or onward ticket: Prepare proof of onward travel if required.
- Sufficient funds: Ensure you have enough money to cover expenses during your stay.
- Documents for onward destinations: Prepare any required visas or travel documents for the next country on your itinerary.
The SG Arrival Card is not a visa. Submission is free and available through the official ICA website or the MyICA Mobile application.
Travelers should use official ICA channels to avoid unnecessary charges from third-party services.
The length of stay permitted in Singapore is not automatically determined by visa-free entry. Immigration officers decide the authorized period upon arrival, which is recorded in the electronic Visit Pass (e-Pass).
Visitors should check their e-Pass after clearing immigration. Those who wish to stay longer must follow the applicable extension procedures and obtain approval.
Short-term visit passes also do not permit paid employment in Singapore.
To reduce the risk of delays at immigration, travelers should keep their return tickets, accommodation details and travel information readily available in case officers request them. They should also ensure that their travel purpose complies with the conditions of their visit.
Indonesian citizens can generally visit Singapore for short trips without a visa, but they must still meet all applicable entry requirements. Checking the latest official rules before departure can help make the journey smoother.
