Jakarta, ThedailyID — Tokopedia has launched TokoClinic by Tokopedia Farma, an integrated telemedicine service that connects users with licensed doctors and more than 3,000 licensed pharmacies across Indonesia.
The service allows users to consult doctors online, receive digital prescriptions, and purchase medication in one application. As a result, patients no longer need to switch between multiple platforms to access healthcare services.
Tokopedia launched the service to address healthcare access challenges in Indonesia. The company also aims to promote safer and more responsible online medicine purchases.
“Through TokoClinic, we want to ensure that buying medicine online is not only convenient but also safer and more responsible,” said Stephanie Susilo, Executive Director of Tokopedia and TikTok Shop Indonesia.
She added that the integration of medical consultations, digital prescriptions, and medicine purchases creates a more trusted healthcare experience for users.
The launch comes as concerns grow over illegal medicine sales online. In 2025, Indonesia’s Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) found 197,725 links selling illegal medicines and food products on digital platforms.
To improve safety, TokoClinic uses a verified digital prescription system. Doctors can issue prescriptions directly through the platform after consultations.
The system helps ensure users purchase medicines that match medical recommendations. It also supports compliance with online medicine distribution regulations.
Meanwhile, Indonesia’s pharmaceutical industry continues to expand. Industry projections estimate the market could reach Rp225 trillion by 2030.
Growing healthcare demand and digital transformation continue to drive that growth. Therefore, pharmaceutical companies are investing more heavily in technology-based healthcare services.
Tokopedia said TokoClinic supports the development of Indonesia’s digital health ecosystem. The company hopes the platform will make healthcare services easier to access.
Expanding Healthcare Access
Tokopedia believes TokoClinic can help address healthcare accessibility challenges across the country. This includes communities that often face barriers to medical services.
Moreover, the platform may help reduce self-medication practices. Users can consult doctors before purchasing medicine, making treatment decisions more informed and responsible.
The initiative also aligns with Indonesia’s healthcare digital transformation agenda. The government aims to improve healthcare quality, affordability, and accessibility through technology.
Dr. Mahesa Paranadipa Maikel, a physician specializing in bioethics, health law, and hospital management, said telemedicine can help people access healthcare more quickly.
He noted that digital healthcare services work particularly well for non-emergency conditions. However, providers must continue prioritizing patient safety and responsible medicine use.
He also stressed the importance of protecting patients’ rights to choose treatments that suit their needs and financial circumstances.
Looking ahead, Tokopedia hopes TokoClinic will expand access to trusted digital healthcare services nationwide. The company plans to work closely with medical professionals, licensed pharmacies, and regulators to support that goal.
