Jakarta, ThedailyID — The Bimasena hosted an Energy Leaders’ Talk on Friday, September 18, 2026, bringing together policymakers, industry leaders, academics and energy stakeholders to discuss Indonesia’s energy security.
The discussion carried the theme “Strengthening the Policy Framework for Energy Security.” Satya W. Yudha, a member of Indonesia’s National Energy Council, served as the speaker, while Bimasena Energy Fellow Doty Damayanti moderated the session.
The forum focused on strengthening policy frameworks to support national energy security. Participants also discussed the need to balance economic growth, sustainability and long-term resilience amid changes in the global energy landscape.
As Indonesia works to secure a reliable and sustainable energy supply, the event provided a platform for stakeholders from different sectors to exchange perspectives. The discussion also aimed to support informed decision-making on policies shaping the country’s energy future.
The event also commemorated the legacy and birth anniversary of Prof. Dr. Subroto, the late economist and academic who founded The Bimasena.
Subroto served as Indonesia’s Minister of Mines and Energy from 1978 to 1988. He later served as Secretary General of OPEC from 1988 to 1994.
Throughout his career, Subroto promoted policymaking, collaboration and knowledge sharing. These values remain part of The Bimasena’s activities today.
“Bimasena was founded on the belief that meaningful progress comes from bringing different perspectives together,” Managing Director of The Bimasena Adriel M. Simorangkir said.
“Energy remains one of the most important issues for Indonesia’s long-term development, making open and thoughtful dialogue more important than ever,” he added.
Simorangkir said the Energy Leaders’ Talk also served as a way to commemorate Subroto’s legacy on his birthday. He said the forum continued Subroto’s vision of creating a platform where leaders, experts and stakeholders could exchange ideas on issues important to the nation’s future.
Established in 1997, The Bimasena began as a private members’ club and meeting point for energy and mining professionals. Nearly three decades later, it continues to bring together representatives from government, business, academia and the wider community.
Through its forums and discussions, The Bimasena continues to position itself as a platform for dialogue on Indonesia’s long-term development, including issues surrounding the country’s energy sector.
