Jakarta, ThedailyID — Police in Thailand carried out an unusual undercover operation by disguising officers as female dancers to arrest a suspected drug dealer in Lop Buri province.
According to reports, the operation took place in Tha Luang district after authorities received information about suspected drug activity linked to illegal gambling operations.
Several officers reportedly wore colorful dresses, wigs, and heavy makeup to blend into a local entertainment environment before approaching the suspect.
Photos and videos from the arrest later spread widely across social media platforms because of the officers’ unexpected disguises.
Thai authorities identified the suspect as Mekha Fa-wap-wap. Police arrested him on charges related to narcotics possession and illegal gambling activity.
During the operation, officers seized 53 methamphetamine pills and one mobile phone believed to be connected to the case.
Reports stated that the undercover strategy helped officers avoid raising suspicion before making the arrest.
Meanwhile, many social media users reacted humorously to the operation after local media published images from the scene.
Some users praised the officers’ creativity, while others focused on the unusual appearance of the undercover team.
Despite the online reactions, Thai police emphasized that the operation formed part of ongoing efforts to combat drug distribution and illegal gambling activities in the region.
Methamphetamine-related cases remain a major concern in several parts of Thailand and Southeast Asia. Authorities continue increasing surveillance and undercover operations to reduce narcotics trafficking networks.
The suspect currently remains in police custody while authorities continue legal proceedings and further investigation into the case.
