Jakarta, ThedailyID — Apple officially introduced Siri AI at WWDC 2026, marking the company’s biggest upgrade to its voice assistant in years. The launch immediately drew comparisons with Google’s Gemini, which already powers many Android smartphones.
While both tools rely on artificial intelligence, they differ in how they operate, access information, and interact with users.
One of the biggest distinctions lies in device integration. Siri AI is deeply connected to Apple’s ecosystem, allowing it to access apps, messages, emails, photos, documents, and system settings across supported Apple devices.
As a result, Siri can perform more personalized tasks. Users can ask the assistant to find old photos, locate documents, summarize emails, or complete actions within apps using natural language.
Meanwhile, Gemini focuses heavily on Google’s cloud-based AI capabilities. The assistant can answer complex questions, generate content, analyze information, and interact with Google services such as Gmail, Google Maps, YouTube, and Google Drive.
Gemini also benefits from Google’s extensive search infrastructure. Therefore, it generally offers broader access to real-time information from the web.
Apple has positioned Siri AI as a personal assistant that understands a user’s context. The company says the upgraded assistant can better understand follow-up questions and maintain more natural conversations.
On the other hand, Gemini places greater emphasis on reasoning, content creation, and advanced AI-powered search. Many Android users already use it for writing, brainstorming, research, and productivity tasks.
Privacy remains another key difference. Apple processes much of Siri AI’s activity through its Apple Intelligence system and Private Cloud Compute framework. The company says these technologies help protect user data while delivering AI features.
Google, meanwhile, relies more heavily on cloud computing to power Gemini’s capabilities. However, the company also continues to introduce additional privacy controls for users.
Availability also differs between the two platforms. Apple plans to offer Siri AI only on newer devices, including the iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, iPhone Air, and select iPad models.
By contrast, Gemini is already available on a wide range of Android devices and continues to expand across Google’s ecosystem.
As competition in artificial intelligence intensifies, Siri AI and Gemini represent two different approaches. Apple focuses on personalized assistance within its ecosystem, while Google emphasizes broad AI capabilities powered by its vast online infrastructure.
