Jakarta, ThedailyID — Cristiano Ronaldo finally ended his trophy drought with Al Nassr after helping the Saudi club win the 2025/2026 Saudi Pro League title.
Al Nassr secured the championship after defeating Damac 4-1 in the final league match at Al Awwal Park in Riyadh. Ronaldo scored two goals in the decisive victory and appeared emotional after the final whistle.
The title became Al Nassr’s first Saudi Pro League trophy since 2019 and marked Ronaldo’s first league title since joining the club in late 2022.
Despite winning the league, Ronaldo failed to finish as the competition’s top scorer. The Portuguese forward scored 28 league goals this season but lost the Golden Boot race to Ivan Toney of Al Ahli, who finished with 32 goals.
Ronaldo’s success came only days after a disappointing defeat in the AFC Champions League Two final against Japan’s Gamba Osaka. Al Nassr lost 1-0 in Riyadh, extending Ronaldo’s wait for a continental title with the club.
The former Manchester United and Real Madrid star reportedly walked straight to the dressing room after that final and skipped the runner-up medal ceremony.
Al Nassr also nearly lost the Saudi title race last week after conceding a dramatic late equalizer against rivals Al Hilal. The draw forced Ronaldo and his teammates to secure victory against Damac in the final round.
Ronaldo played a major role throughout the season and remained one of the league’s most influential players at age 41.
Since joining Al Nassr, he has scored more than 120 goals for the club in all competitions and helped increase global attention toward Saudi football.
Fans across social media celebrated Ronaldo’s emotional reaction after the title win, with many describing the trophy as a reward for his persistence after several painful final defeats with Al Nassr.
