Prabowo Establishes Seven New District Prosecutors' Offices Across Indonesia

Jakarta, ThedailyID — Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has signed a presidential regulation establishing seven new district prosecutors’ offices to strengthen legal services and improve the performance of the Attorney General’s Office at the regional level.

Under Presidential Regulation No. 40 of 2026, the government will establish new offices in Pangandaran, West Java, and Serang Regency, Banten.

It will also open offices in Tana Tidung, North Kalimantan, Kubu Raya, West Kalimantan, Lima Puluh Kota, West Sumatra, Raja Ampat, Southwest Papua, and Pesisir Barat, Lampung.

Meanwhile, each office will operate from its regency’s administrative centre. The locations include Parigi, Ciruas, Tideng Pale, Sungai Raya, Harau, Waisai, and Krui.

The government will launch the new offices in phases.

Afterward, the Attorney General will determine their organisational structure, duties, operating procedures, and launch schedule. However, the office must first secure approval from the minister responsible for the state civil service.

The regulation also allows local governments to provide land for the new office buildings.

Meanwhile, the Attorney General’s Office will finance the establishment and operation of the new institutions through its own budget.

Until the government appoints new district prosecutors, existing prosecutors’ offices will continue handling criminal and civil cases in the affected regions.

Prabowo signed the regulation in Jakarta on July 2, 2026.

It took effect the same day after State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi published it in the 2026 State Gazette No. 76.
