Prabowo Appoints Five New Senior Officials at Attorney General's Office

Jakarta, ThedailyID — Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has appointed five new senior officials at the Attorney General’s Office following a leadership reshuffle triggered by an ongoing corruption investigation involving former senior prosecutor Febrie Adriansyah.

State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi said Prabowo signed the presidential decree on July 21 after reviewing recommendations from Attorney General Sanitiar Burhanuddin.

“The president signed the decree yesterday based on the Attorney General’s proposal and the results of the selection process,” Prasetyo told reporters at the Presidential Palace on July 22.

The appointments include Asep Nana Mulyana as Deputy Attorney General and Kuntadi as Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes.

Prabowo also appointed Leonard Eben Ezer Simanjuntak as Junior Attorney General for General Crimes, Harli Siregar as Head of the Attorney General’s Education and Training Agency, and Patris Yusrian Jaya as Head of the Asset Recovery Agency.

The government announced the reshuffle after investigators named former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes Febrie Adriansyah as a corruption suspect.

Attorney General’s Office spokesperson Anang Supriatna said investigators questioned Febrie over alleged corruption and money laundering linked to state insurer Asabri.

Anang also confirmed that prosecutors had opened three new investigations after receiving case files transferred from the National Police.

The investigations involve alleged corruption and money laundering related to PT Krakatau Steel, coal procurement for state electricity company PLN that allegedly contributed to a major blackout, and the Asabri case.

Investigators also named businessman Don Ritto as a suspect. Prosecutors allege he laundered funds obtained through corruption.

Meanwhile, investigators suspect Febrie of participating in corruption and money laundering during legal proceedings involving Asabri and several other corruption cases.

The Attorney General’s Office has also formed a special team of nine senior prosecutors, many of whom previously served at Indonesia’s Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), to handle the investigation.
