Jakarta, ThedailyID — Several vehicles suffered severe damage after a powerful explosion destroyed a luxury house in the Grand Polonia residential complex in Medan, North Sumatra, on July 21.
One of the worst-hit vehicles was a Lexus parked directly in front of the house where the explosion occurred. The blast shattered its windows and heavily damaged the body of the vehicle.
Authorities said a driver became trapped inside the Lexus immediately after the explosion. Rescue teams later evacuated the victim from the wreckage.
Meanwhile, at least three black vehicles remained parked in the driveway of the damaged house. Falling debris from the collapsed building crushed the cars. Officials had not removed the vehicles from the scene as of Tuesday.
In addition, two other vehicles parked outside neighboring homes also sustained damage. The houses stand directly across from the property where the explosion originated.
Preliminary information showed that seven people were near the scene when the blast occurred. Authorities confirmed that four people survived, including a two-year-old child identified as J, a driver, a courier, and another adult.
Emergency responders continued searching the rubble for two people who remained missing following the explosion.
Authorities have not yet announced the cause of the blast. Investigators are continuing to examine the scene.
