Jakarta, ThedailyID — The Tanjung Priok Port Authority and Harbourmaster Office (KSOP Utama Tanjung Priok) has reaffirmed its support for PT Jakarta International Container Terminal (JICT) as the operator advances its transition toward a sustainable green port through equipment electrification. The initiative forms part of broader efforts to modernise Indonesia’s port infrastructure while reducing carbon emissions.
KSOP demonstrated its support during a joint working visit to the SANY Port Machinery Industrial Park in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province, China. The delegation was led by KSOP Head Heru Susanto and JICT Director of Operations and Engineering Doni Budiono.
The visit focused on technical due diligence, factory acceptance testing (FAT), and manufacturing readiness. Officials evaluated five Electric Rubber Tyred Gantry Cranes (E-RTGCs) and 10 Electric Terminal Trucks (ETTs) before their deployment.
Heru said Indonesia’s ports must keep pace with growing logistics demand while maintaining environmental sustainability. He added that the adoption of electric-powered equipment aligns with the country’s long-term port modernisation strategy.
“We view JICT’s initiative to adopt electric-based technology as a positive step aligned with the direction of national port modernisation,” Heru said. He added that KSOP will ensure the transformation meets safety, regulatory, and governance standards while improving logistics competitiveness.
Heru also highlighted the importance of cooperation between regulators, port operators, and technology providers. He said strong collaboration will help Indonesia strengthen its position in regional and global logistics networks.
Doni said the fleet renewal programme represents a long-term investment in cleaner and more efficient port operations. He described the electrification project as a fundamental operational transformation rather than a simple equipment upgrade.
According to Doni, the new cranes and terminal trucks will use battery swap station technology to improve operational efficiency. He said the investment will increase productivity while supporting Indonesia’s decarbonisation goals for the port sector.
The initiative also received support from SANY Group, the equipment manufacturer. Guoyuan Zhou, Vice President of SANY Group, welcomed the Indonesian delegation and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting JICT through advanced electrification and digitalisation technologies.
