Jakarta, ThedailyID — Italian authorities officially banned upcoming concerts by Kanye West and Travis Scottdue to security and public order concerns.
The two rappers were scheduled to perform at the RCF Arena in Reggio Emilia during the Pulse of Gaia Festival in July. Travis Scott was set to appear on July 17, while Kanye West planned to perform the following day.
Local prefect Salvatore Angieri ordered the cancellation after authorities reviewed potential security risks surrounding both events. Officials cited concerns over possible protests and the large number of spectators expected within a 24-hour period.
The decision followed requests from consumer group CODACONS and local Jewish communities in Modena and Reggio Emilia. Both groups raised concerns over Kanye West’s past antisemitic remarks and controversial public statements.
West has faced several concert cancellations across Europe in recent months. Authorities in the United Kingdom previously denied him entry, while planned performances in France, Poland, and Switzerland were also canceled.
Meanwhile, Travis Scott continues to face scrutiny over concert safety following the 2021 Astroworld tragedy in Houston. The incident killed 10 people and injured hundreds during a crowd surge.
Authorities said the combination of back-to-back concerts, massive crowd expectations, and protest risks influenced the final decision. The RCF Arena can accommodate more than 100,000 people.
Neither Kanye West, Travis Scott, nor the festival organizers immediately commented on the cancellation.
The cancellation marks another setback for West’s European tour plans. However, the rapper still has scheduled performances in several countries that continue to allow his entry.
