Jakarta, ThedailyID — Israeli authorities have released all detained delegates from the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) and Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC), including nine Indonesian citizens who were previously held at Ktziot Prison in the Negev desert.
Global Peace Convoy Indonesia (GPCI) Media Coordinator Harfin Naqsyabandy confirmed that every detained participant in the mission had been freed and is currently undergoing deportation procedures before returning home.
The Indonesian delegates joined the humanitarian mission through GPCI alongside representatives from Dompet Dhuafa, Rumah Zakat, Spirit of Aqsa, SMART 171, and journalists from Republika, INews, and Tempo.
The flotilla aimed to deliver humanitarian aid and raise international awareness over conditions in Gaza amid the ongoing conflict.
Israeli forces intercepted the convoy earlier this week in international waters before detaining activists, journalists, and humanitarian workers from multiple countries. International legal aid organization Adalah later confirmed that authorities transferred several detainees to Ktziot Prison.
International media reports stated that Israel deported foreign participants through airports near Eilat following their release.
The detention sparked criticism from human rights groups and several international observers after videos online showed some activists restrained while in Israeli custody.
The Freedom Flotilla Coalition and Global Sumud Flotilla described the mission as a peaceful humanitarian initiative intended to challenge the blockade on Gaza and deliver solidarity to Palestinians affected by the war.
