Jakarta, ThedailyID — Iran’s military claimed it launched a new wave of drone attacks against a U.S. military facility in Kuwait on July 22, marking the latest escalation in tensions between Tehran and Washington.
According to Iran’s semi-official Tasnim News Agency, the operation targeted Camp Doha in western Kuwait. Iranian forces said they used a large number of attack drones to strike a U.S. Army ammunition depot and logistics facilities.
Iran described the attack as retaliation for what it called repeated U.S. aggression.
“The Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran stand ready to deliver a decisive response to any new conspiracy or provocation by the enemy,” the military said in a statement quoted by Al Jazeera.
The statement also described Camp Doha as a key hub supporting U.S. military personnel and equipment across the region.
The latest strike came despite a ceasefire agreement and a memorandum of understanding that both countries signed in mid-June to end their conflict.
Over the past 11 days, however, both sides have exchanged fresh attacks, raising fears that the truce is rapidly unraveling.
U.S. President Donald Trump has repeatedly claimed that American operations severely weakened Iran’s military capabilities. He has also asked Congress to approve additional funding for military operations against Tehran.
Trump further claimed that Iran had sought to return to negotiations. Iranian officials, however, have continued military operations against U.S. positions across the Middle East.
In recent weeks, Iran has targeted locations linked to U.S. forces in several countries that host American military bases, including Kuwait and Bahrain.
Most recently, Iran claimed responsibility for an attack in Jordan that targeted U.S. military facilities, including personnel accommodations. The strike reportedly killed three American soldiers.
Neither the U.S. Department of Defense nor Kuwaiti authorities had immediately confirmed Iran’s latest claims at the time of publication.
