Jakarta, ThedailyID — Instagram has changed the text logo displayed at the top of its app for the first time in a decade.
Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri announced the change through his personal account on Thursday, August 13, 2026.
“The wordmark at the top of the app has never changed in 10 years, so it was time for an update,” Mosseri said.
According to Mosseri, the updated design looks cleaner and more modern while retaining elements of Instagram’s original visual identity.
He said the redesign reflects the simplicity and craftsmanship that have long been associated with the platform.
However, the change quickly sparked criticism among some users. Mosseri also shared the announcement on Threads, where users responded with their opinions.
One user criticized Meta for making a cosmetic change while allegedly overlooking issues that matter more to its community.
Another user said Instagram should focus on improving safety rather than changing its design. The user claimed to have experienced stalking and harassment on the platform.
Other reactions were more lighthearted. One user joked that the redesigned wordmark looked more like “Instagzam” than Instagram.
The logo update marks a small but noticeable change to Instagram’s interface after 10 years without changes to its text branding.
