Jakarta, ThedailyID — Hukumonline has unveiled its Top Indonesian Law Schools 2026 ranking and Golden Alumni program.
The awards took place at Hotel Ashley Tanah Abang in Jakarta on Thursday, August 14, 2026. The event recognized universities for their contributions to legal education and Indonesia’s legal ecosystem.
Hukumonline Chief Media & Engagement Officer Amrie Hakim said universities play an important role in developing critical thinking, integrity and intellectual courage.
“Higher education is not merely a place to transfer knowledge, but a space for critical thinking, integrity and intellectual courage to grow,” Amrie said.
Meanwhile, Hukumonline refined its ranking methodology this year by separating universities from non-university institutions. The assessment covers Golden Alumni from undergraduate law programs, BAN-PT accreditation, SINTA scores and international reputation.
The ranking features both regional and national categories. Regional awards recognize leading public and private law institutions across western, central and eastern Indonesia.
At the national level, awards include the 2026 Best National Law School and leading non-university law institutions. Hukumonline also recognizes the top public and private law schools.
Beyond the rankings, the event highlighted the role of universities in Indonesia’s legislative process. DPR RI Chief of Expertise Agency Prof. Bayu Dwi Anggono said law schools could work with parliament to strengthen the academic foundation of legislation.
Universities can contribute through academic papers, draft legislation, expert discussions and public consultations. In addition, their research can support legislative reviews and evaluations after laws take effect.
Bayu said academic research could contribute throughout the policy cycle. This includes drafting legislation and evaluating its implementation.
He also stressed the importance of bringing different fields of expertise into the legislative process. This can help lawmakers address increasingly complex regulatory issues.
Separately, the event featured the 2026 National Legal Seminar. The seminar brought together senior figures from the Supreme Court, Attorney General’s Office, parliament and legal academia.
Hukumonline also announced its Golden Alumni 2026 directory during the event. The program recognizes graduates from leading Indonesian law schools who have pursued careers in legal professions and public institutions.
Among this year’s recognized alumni is Andrie Yunus, Deputy Coordinator for External Affairs at the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS).
