Jakarta, ThedailyID — Indonesia’s Attorney General’s Office plans to question former National Nutrition Agency (BGN) deputy head Sony Sanjaya next week as part of its investigation into alleged corruption involving the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program.
Director of Investigations at the Office of the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes, Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi, said investigators will use the questioning to examine Sony’s application for justice collaborator status.
“In the near future, we will question SS to confirm the justice collaborator application he submitted,” Syarief told reporters.
Meanwhile, investigators are also reviewing 26 individuals whom Sony allegedly identified as being involved in the case. However, prosecutors said he has not yet provided evidence to support those claims.
“We are examining the 26 names and reviewing the evidence in our possession,” Syarief said. “We will question SS regarding his application and the information he provided.”
According to prosecutors, investigators are still assessing the evidence available in the case. They will compare that material with any information Sony may present during questioning.
Separately, Attorney General’s Office spokesperson Anang Supriatna confirmed that investigators will question Sony next week. However, he did not disclose the exact date.
The Attorney General’s Office has named five suspects in the alleged corruption case involving the MBG program during the 2025–2026 period.
The suspects include former BGN chief Dadan Hindayana, former deputy heads Sony Sanjaya and Lodewyk Pusung, Sony associate Asep Yusuf Somantri, and Andri Mulyono.
Prosecutors allege that foundations managing the MBG program should have operated under nutrition service units affiliated with recipient schools. However, many selected organizations allegedly had ties to senior BGN officials and did not meet the required qualifications.
Investigators also uncovered alleged procurement markups that harmed the program’s operations. The purchases included 21,801 electric motorcycles worth Rp1.03 trillion, 32,000 pairs of shoes, 31,994 tablets, and 5,400 units of 75-inch televisions.
The Attorney General’s Office continues to investigate the case and has not ruled out the possibility of additional suspects.
