InJourney President Director Maya Watono said the event has evolved beyond a world-class motorsport competition. She added that the Grand Prix now serves as a key driver for tourism, local economic growth, and Indonesia’s global branding.
Moreover, the event has transformed local talent development in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). During the inaugural race, international marshals handled race operations. Today, local NTB marshals fill every marshal position after meeting international standards.
This year’s theme, “The Rise of Local Heroes,” highlights Indonesia’s growing presence in global motorcycle racing. The 2026 championship will feature 76 riders from 23 countries, including 22 MotoGP riders, 28 Moto2 riders, and 26 Moto3 riders.
Indonesia will once again have representatives on the world stage. Mario Suryo Aji will compete in Moto2, while Veda Ega Pratama races in Moto3.
Furthermore, Indonesian riders continue to deliver impressive international results. Kiandra Ramadhipa claimed his first Moto3 Junior World Championship victory in Estoril on June 14. Meanwhile, Aldi Satya Mahendra secured third place in Race 2 of the WorldSSP round in Misano.
Minister of Youth and Sports Erick Thohir said the achievements of Indonesian riders reflect the country’s improving motorsport development system. He added that the Grand Prix inspires young Indonesians to pursue international success.
The event also continues to generate significant economic benefits. Last year’s race attracted 140,324 spectators, while the Mandalika tourism area welcomed more than 200,000 visitors throughout the 2025 MotoGP period.
In addition, MotoGP 2025 generated an estimated Rp4.96 trillion in national economic impact. More than 600 local MSMEs participated in the event ecosystem, while over 3,000 workers found employment across supporting sectors.
IMI Chairman Moreno Soeprapto said Indonesia’s success depends on more than its riders. He emphasized that mechanics, marshals, officials, communities, and organizers also play vital roles in strengthening the national motorsport ecosystem.
Meanwhile, Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia 2026 Chairman Troy Warokka said Mandalika offers a unique experience through its “Thrill in Paradise” concept. Visitors can enjoy world-class racing alongside beaches, local culture, traditional cuisine, music festivals, wellness activities, and island-hopping experiences.
Looking ahead, Mandalika will continue improving visitor services through better connectivity, upgraded mobility systems, expanded food and retail areas, stronger security, and enhanced hospitality standards.
The circuit recorded 285 operational days and 206 events in 2025. For 2026, organizers target 244 operational days and 132 events, including 89 motorsport and 43 non-motorsport events.
