Jakarta, ThedailyID — Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung thanked BTS fans, known collectively as ARMY, after BIGHIT MUSIC added a third Jakarta concert to the group’s BTS WORLD TOUR ‘ARIRANG’ following overwhelming ticket demand.
Speaking on Saturday, Pramono revealed that the Jakarta administration had previously proposed Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) as the concert venue. However, he acknowledged that most fans preferred Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Main Stadium from the beginning.
“I even tried to bid for BTS to perform at JIS, although I knew ARMY wanted GBK,” Pramono said. “My son even told me, ‘Dad, don’t bother. ARMY will definitely choose GBK.’”
Despite the unsuccessful bid, Pramono said the venue choice was never a major concern for the city government.
“Whether the concert takes place at GBK or JIS, it benefits Jakarta,” he said. “The important thing is that the tax revenue stays in Jakarta. Now BTS has added another show, so I want to thank ARMY.”
BIGHIT MUSIC announced the additional performance through the fan platform Weverse on June 17. The company said strong demand from fans prompted it to expand the tour schedule in both Jakarta and Bulacan.
“Thanks to the incredible support from ARMY, we have added one more show in each city: Jakarta and Bulacan for the BTS WORLD TOUR ‘ARIRANG’,” the agency said.
The newly added Jakarta concert is scheduled for Dec. 29 at Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium.
Tickets for the original Jakarta dates sold out quickly, prompting fans to call for an additional performance. The new date will make Jakarta one of the tour’s multi-show destinations in Southeast Asia.
