Jakarta, ThedailyID — The Eiffel Tower will close earlier than usual this weekend as another extreme heatwave sweeps across France, prompting operators to prioritize the safety of visitors and staff.

The Eiffel Tower’s operator announced that the 330-meter landmark will end operations at 4 p.m. local time on Saturday, July 12, and Sunday, July 13, 2026.

“Due to the forecast of exceptionally high temperatures, the Eiffel Tower will adjust its operating hours,” the operator said in a statement on its official website, citing AFP.

Paris is currently under the highest heat alert issued by France’s national weather service. The latest heatwave marks the country’s third since May, highlighting an increasingly intense summer season.

Operators introduced the earlier closing time to reduce health risks caused by extreme temperatures. The measure mainly affects visitors planning to reach the tower’s summit by stairs or elevator.

Officials also urged tourists to stay hydrated, wear lightweight clothing, use sun protection, and avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.

The ongoing heatwave has forced several European countries to adjust tourist site operations and issue public health advisories as temperatures continue to climb.

As one of the world’s most visited landmarks, the Eiffel Tower welcomes millions of visitors each year. Authorities hope the temporary schedule adjustment will minimize safety risks while the extreme weather persists.
