Jakarta, ThedailyID — Diplomat Success Challenge (DSC) has launched Founders’ Arena, marking its biggest transformation since the entrepreneurship program debuted in 2009. The new platform expands DSC from a business competition into a broader entrepreneurial ecosystem focused on collaboration, inclusivity, and long-term founder development.
During the launch of DSC Season 17 in Jakarta on July 9, 2026, organizers also announced a total grant fund of Rp2.5 billion for entrepreneurs across Indonesia under the theme “Founders of Indonesia.”
The transformation comes as Indonesia seeks to produce more entrepreneurs capable of creating jobs and supporting economic growth. Last season, DSC attracted more than 40,000 applicants and continued expanding its Diplomat Entrepreneur Network (DEN), an alumni community built over the past 16 years.
The launch also coincides with positive economic momentum. According to Statistics Indonesia (BPS), Indonesia’s economy grew 5.61% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2026.
However, Indonesia’s established entrepreneur ratio stood at only 3.43% of the workforce as of February 2026. The figure remains below Malaysia (4.74%), Thailand (4%), and Singapore (8.76%).
Meanwhile, around 2.9 million people enter Indonesia’s workforce each year. At the same time, approximately 65.5 million MSMEs employ nearly 97% of the country’s workforce and contribute around 60% of national GDP.
“Indonesia needs more founders who can create solutions and generate jobs. After 17 years, DSC has evolved into Founders’ Arena, an ecosystem that is more open, inclusive, and continues to uphold our principles of Paham, Piawai, and Persona,” said Ronald Walla, President Director of PT Wismilak Inti Makmur.
Building an ecosystem for founders
Through Founders’ Arena, DSC aims to give entrepreneurs greater visibility, opportunities to share their ideas, access to a collaborative community, and equal opportunities regardless of their background or resources.
“‘Founders of Indonesia’ is more than this year’s theme. It reflects DSC’s 17-year journey. We are evolving from a business competition into an ecosystem that helps founders grow through community, collaboration, and equal opportunity,” said Edric Chandra, Program Initiator of Diplomat Success Challenge.
The initiative also received support from Indonesia’s Ministry of MSMEs. Minister Maman Abdurrahman described DSC as an important partner in nurturing future entrepreneurs.
“Developing young founders cannot be done by the government alone. Programs like DSC are strategic partners in creating the next generation of job creators in Indonesia,” Maman said.
Meanwhile, DSC Board of Commissioners Chairman Surjanto Yasaputera said the program values leadership as much as business capability.
“Over the past 17 years, we’ve learned that the best founders are not necessarily the most talented individuals. They are the ones who can inspire and mobilize the people around them. We hope Founders’ Arena will become a collaborative platform that strengthens Indonesia’s entrepreneurial ecosystem,” he said.
Registration for Diplomat Success Challenge Season 17 is open until October 9, 2026. Entrepreneurs from across Indonesia can submit either business ideas or existing ventures through the official Founders’ Arena platform to compete for the Rp2.5 billion grant fund.
