Jakarta, ThedailyID — PT Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) is expanding its digital banking push through QRIS Soundbox, a new payment tool aimed at helping small merchants modernize operations and accelerate cashless adoption.
The move forms part of BSI’s broader effort to support MSMEs and strengthen financial inclusion through digital payment solutions.
As of March 2026, BSI had deployed more than 600,000 QRIS payment points across merchants nationwide, spanning food and beverage outlets, fashion, halal businesses, hospitals, supermarkets, and other sectors.
BSI Director of Sales and Distribution Anton Sukarna said digitalization has become increasingly important as consumers shift toward cashless and mobile-based transactions.
“BSI aims to be a financial, social, and spiritual partner by facilitating transactions that are easy, secure, and fast,” Anton said.
The new QRIS Soundbox provides voice notifications for completed payments, helping merchants reduce transaction errors and mitigate fraud risks. The device also connects to the BYOND Merchant by BSI app, allowing users to monitor and download transaction reports in real time.
BSI said the rollout also supports Bank Indonesia’s push for a more integrated, transparent, and secure payment ecosystem.
Beyond domestic transactions, the bank has expanded its QRIS Cross-Border feature, enabling payments in Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, and South Korea.
In the first phase, BSI is targeting traditional markets, where the lender sees strong potential to help merchants “move up a class” through digital tools and better financial management.
The initiative aims to help traders monitor cash flow and income more efficiently while improving bookkeeping through real-time transaction records.
Anton said BSI remains optimistic digital payment adoption can widen sharia financial inclusion while boosting the competitiveness of Indonesian MSMEs.
