Jakarta, ThedailyID — PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia Tbk (BRI) maintained strong financial performance in the first quarter of 2026, despite rising global uncertainty driven by geopolitical tensions. The bank recorded a consolidated net profit of Rp15.5 trillion, growing 13.7% year-on-year.
President Director Hery Gunardi delivered the results during a press conference at BRI Headquarters in Jakarta on April 30, 2026. He said Indonesia’s economy remains resilient, supported by stable demand, supply, and fiscal conditions, which help cushion global risks.
At the same time, the national banking sector continues to show stability, with strong intermediation, sufficient liquidity, and controlled risk levels. This environment allows banks to expand prudently while maintaining performance.
BRI’s growth reflects consistent business expansion across its core segments. On the funding side, third-party funds reached Rp1,555 trillion, increasing 9.4% year-on-year. Meanwhile, low-cost funds (CASA) rose 13.2% to Rp1,058.6 trillion, strengthening the bank’s funding structure.
In lending, total credit and financing grew 13.7% to Rp1,562 trillion. The MSME segment remained the main driver, contributing Rp1,211 trillion. Total assets also increased 7.2% year-on-year to Rp2,250 trillion, showing continued balance sheet expansion.
Operational performance stayed solid, with pre-provision operating profit rising 7.7% to Rp32.2 trillion. This reflects the bank’s ability to balance revenue growth with cost efficiency.
Asset quality also improved during the period. Loan at Risk declined from 11.1% to 9.7%, while cost of fund dropped from 3% to 2.3%. These improvements supported stronger profitability, with return on assets reaching 2.8% and return on equity rising to 18.4%.
Looking ahead, BRI will continue strengthening its focus on MSMEs as its core growth engine. The bank is developing an end-to-end ecosystem, covering financing, business mentoring, and digital integration to support inclusive growth.
Hery added that BRI’s transformation strategy, known as BRIvolution Reignite, aims to create sustainable value. He emphasized that growth must deliver real impact not only for shareholders, but also for the broader community.
