Jakarta, ThedailyID — Indonesian lawmaker TB Hasanuddin has urged President Prabowo Subianto to revoke the Bintang Mahaputera Adipurna award given to former National Police Chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo. The call follows Listyo’s alleged involvement in an illegal wiretapping case targeting the president.
Hasanuddin, a member of House Commission I, said state honors must reflect moral integrity and exemplary conduct. Therefore, he believes the case deserves attention from the Council for Titles, Decorations, and Honors.
“State awards such as the Bintang Mahaputera are not merely symbols of honor. They also carry moral responsibilities and expectations of exemplary conduct,” Hasanuddin said on Wednesday, November 4.
President Prabowo presented the award to Listyo on October 1, 2026. At the time, Listyo was still serving as National Police Chief.
The Bintang Mahaputera ranks as Indonesia’s second-highest state honor, below the Bintang Republik Indonesia. The award recognizes individuals and organizations for exceptional contributions to the nation. It has five levels, with Adipurna as its highest rank.
Hasanuddin explained that Law No. 20 of 2009 governs the revocation of state honors. Under Article 35, the president has the authority to revoke an award if its recipient no longer meets the requirements under Article 25.
These requirements include moral integrity, exemplary conduct, loyalty to the country, and significant contributions to the nation.
The PDI-P politician called for an objective and comprehensive review. He said the government must protect the credibility and public trust associated with state honors.
“I encourage an objective and comprehensive review so the government has a strong basis for making its decision,” he said.
Three Police Generals Face Wiretapping Allegations
Besides Listyo, investigators have named two other senior police officers as suspects. They are National Police Legal Division Chief Inspector General Ahrie Sonta Nasution and Inspector General Eko Hadi Santoso.
Bareskrim Chief Commissioner General Asep Safrudin said the alleged activities occurred between 2025 and 2026. Investigators suspect the officers ordered unauthorized interceptions of several phone numbers. These numbers were reportedly entered into police surveillance equipment without proper verification.
One of the alleged targets was President Prabowo’s phone number.
“The numbers were then intercepted without any connection to law enforcement proceedings,” Asep said.
Other alleged targets included community figures, political figures, mass organizations, and media outlets.
The three suspects face multiple charges under Indonesia’s Criminal Code and Electronic Information and Transactions Law. The charges carry potential prison sentences of up to 10 years.
