Jakarta, ThedailyID — Jakarta recorded Rp249.3 trillion in investment from January to September 2026. The figure ranked highest nationally and accounted for around 16.2% of Indonesia’s total investment.
To maintain this growth, Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with investors. The initiative aims to support economic growth, create jobs, and improve the city’s competitiveness. Jakarta is targeting a place among the world’s top 20 global cities by 2045.
Pramono delivered the remarks at the High Tea Reception hosted by East Ventures and the Jakarta City Government. The event took place at Jakarta City Hall on Monday, November 2, 2026. It also provided an opportunity to expand investment networks and partnerships with businesses and startups.
Pramono said Jakarta continued to demonstrate solid economic performance. In the second quarter of 2026, the city’s economy grew by 5.52%. This exceeded national growth of 5.29%. Jakarta also contributed 16.32% to Indonesia’s economy.
“Jakarta’s economic performance remains strong. This is reflected in second-quarter growth of 5.52%, above the national rate. Our contribution to Indonesia’s economy has also reached 16.32%,” Pramono said.
He emphasized that investment should deliver tangible benefits to residents. These include job creation, technology transfer, and stronger support for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
Jakarta is open to investment across several strategic sectors. These include integrated transportation, transit-oriented development, water and waste management, coastal resilience, electric vehicles, healthcare, tourism, and digital infrastructure.
To support investors, the provincial government continues to improve licensing procedures and integrated investment services. These efforts aim to create a more favorable business climate and provide legal certainty.
Pramono also highlighted East Ventures’ role in connecting startups, digital talent, and local MSMEs with financing opportunities and global business networks.
“We are very open to working with East Ventures. We hope this collaboration will help more local businesses improve their competitiveness and reach international markets,” he added.
Beyond physical and digital investment, Pramono said international events also contribute to Jakarta’s economy. Such activities benefit hotels, culinary businesses, and MSMEs.
He cited several events, including The Weeknd’s concert and Pestapora, which generated an estimated Rp250 billion in economic impact. YE Live in Jakarta contributed around Rp450 billion, while the Jakarta Running Festival generated approximately Rp175 billion.
East Ventures Co-Founder and Managing Partner Wilson Cuaca welcomed the city’s investment openness. He described Jakarta as a vital gateway for investors entering Indonesia.
“Jakarta has a very long history. This year, it turns 499, and next year it will celebrate its 500th anniversary. Every investor knows that Jakarta is the main gateway for investing in Indonesia,” Wilson said.
