Jakarta, ThedailyID — Bali will implement three days of work from home (WFH) from October 15 to 17, 2026, to support fuel supply and distribution by state-owned energy company Pertamina. The policy also requires public and private schools to switch to online learning during the same period.
Bali Regional Secretary Dewa Made Indra announced the policy on Wednesday, October 14. He said the measure aims to help Pertamina maintain smooth fuel distribution while ensuring government services continue to operate effectively.
The policy is outlined in Bali Provincial Government letter No. B.39.000.8/48412/TLK/B.ORG, dated October 14, 2026. It covers provincial, regency, and municipal government agencies, as well as central government offices, state-owned enterprises, regional-owned enterprises, universities, and schools across Bali.
Under the directive, government agencies and state-owned companies must implement WFH arrangements for employees from October 15 to 17.
“This adjustment supports Pertamina’s operations, particularly efforts to ensure safe and smooth fuel supply and distribution,” Dewa Made Indra said in a written statement.
However, not all employees can work remotely. Staff responsible for direct public services, emergency response, and security must continue working from their offices as usual.
Meanwhile, all public and private educational institutions must conduct online learning during the three-day period. The requirement applies to both schools and universities, with each institution expected to maintain effective teaching and learning under its existing rules.
Dewa Made Indra also reminded government employees to maintain their responsibilities and productivity while working from home. Therefore, agencies must ensure that the temporary adjustment does not disrupt public services or routine government operations.
The provincial government expects coordination among relevant institutions to help Pertamina distribute fuel more efficiently. At the same time, it aims to keep government administration, education, and essential public services running smoothly.
The announcement comes amid fuel distribution disruptions in Bali. However, the government has not specified how much the WFH policy is expected to improve fuel availability or reduce queues at gas stations.
