“Since the beginning, we have maintained intensive coordination with relevant parties,” said Vahd Nabyl A. Mulachela, the Foreign Ministry spokesperson.
Iran later gave a positive response to Indonesia’s request. Authorities are now preparing technical and operational steps for the tankers to leave the area. However, officials have not confirmed a departure timeline.
Earlier, Energy Minister Bahlil Lahadalia said the government was negotiating to secure the vessels’ release. He stressed the importance of stable maritime routes for Indonesia’s energy supply. He also highlighted the risks that disruptions could pose to national logistics.
