Jakarta, ThedailyID — Cartrack has launched AI Dash Pro in Indonesia to help fleet operators prevent road accidents before they happen.
The AI-powered dashcam detects risky driving behavior in real time. It can identify driver fatigue, distraction, phone use and unsafe following distances.
When the system detects a risk, it sends an audio alert and activates a seat vibration. This gives drivers a chance to correct their behavior immediately.
Fleet managers also receive alerts at the same time. They can then take action, such as asking a tired driver to stop and rest.
Traditional dashcams mainly record incidents after they happen. AI Dash Pro aims to identify risks while they are still developing.
Human Error Remains a Major Road Safety Factor
Driver behavior remains a major concern for commercial fleets in Indonesia. According to the Indonesian National Police, human factors contributed to 95% of 148,798 traffic accidents recorded in 2023.
Those accidents caused more than 22,000 deaths. That equals more than 60 deaths per day.
For commercial fleets, drivers can spend many hours on the road. As a result, fatigue and reduced attention can become significant risks.
Indonesia is also moving toward its Zero ODOL 2027 target. Therefore, improving driver behavior remains important alongside vehicle and cargo compliance.
Closing the Visibility Gap
Fleet operators often face a visibility challenge once vehicles leave their depots. Managers have limited information about what happens behind the wheel.
Small habits can also develop into bigger safety risks. For example, drivers may glance at their phones or continue driving while tired.
AI Dash Pro addresses this through three stages.
During an incident, real-time audio and seat vibration alerts can prompt drivers to correct risky behavior immediately.
After an incident, the system automatically stores footage of high-risk events. Managers can access the footage remotely alongside the vehicle’s location and trip history.
Over time, driving events feed into a driver scorecard. This helps managers identify which drivers need support and what areas require attention.
The video evidence can also change how companies coach drivers. Managers and drivers can review the same footage instead of relying on different accounts of an incident.
Protecting Cargo and Fuel
AI Dash Pro can support up to three cameras. An optional camera can monitor cargo areas and vulnerable points such as fuel tanks and cargo doors.
The Indonesian Logistics and Forwarders Association estimates that fuel accounts for around 40% to 60% of logistics costs. Monitoring these areas can therefore provide another layer of protection for fleet operators.
Safety Results From Driver Coaching
Cartrack said customer results show the potential impact of combining real-time detection with structured driver coaching.
One logistics operator in the region recorded a 31% reduction in safety-related incidents after using Cartrack’s AI Vision technology with driver coaching.
Meanwhile, Lintas Shuttle reported a 60% reduction in accidents through data-based driver coaching.
“In a market like Indonesia, where competition is high and price sensitivity is strong, safety is no longer only a compliance issue,” Carmen Calisto, Chief Strategy & Marketing Officer at Cartrack, said.
She said safety can directly affect operating costs, reputation and customer retention.
Calisto also stressed that many road accidents remain preventable. AI Dash Pro aims to help fleet operators identify risks before they develop into accidents.
The system therefore moves fleet management beyond simply recording what went wrong. It gives drivers real-time warnings and gives managers evidence to support ongoing driver coaching.
