Jakarta, ThedailyID — Independent power producer PT Paiton Energy has donated two electric tour vehicles to Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) to support clean mobility and green tourism.
The handover took place at Plaza Kori Agung, TMII, on Wednesday. The event coincided with World Ozone Day and National Transportation Day.
The initiative brings together the energy and tourism sectors to support Indonesia’s tourism decarbonization roadmap. It also aligns with the country’s Net Zero Emissions target for 2060.
The electric vehicles, known as angling listrik, will transport visitors across TMII’s 150-hectare cultural park. The vehicles produce no direct exhaust emissions and offer quieter transportation around the site.
Paiton Energy said the initiative also reflects its broader energy transition strategy. The company is exploring cleaner power generation as part of its internal operations.
“Paiton Energy fully supports the government’s commitment to realizing Net Zero Emissions by 2060,” President Director Fazil Erwin Alfitri said, Wednesday, September 16.
He added that Paiton Energy has conveyed its readiness to the government and state utility PT PLN (Persero) to expand generation capacity through gas-fired power plants.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Tourism welcomed the initiative. Fransiskus Handoko, Secretary to the Deputy for Industry and Investment, said electric transport can support Indonesia’s sustainable tourism agenda.
“The presence of electric tour vehicles at an iconic site like TMII is a concrete action supporting the Decarbonization Roadmap for Indonesia’s Tourism Sector,” Handoko said.
He added that low-emission transportation can improve visitor comfort while supporting Indonesia’s green tourism efforts.
For TMII, the vehicles provide an additional clean transportation option across its large grounds.
“Spanning 150 hectares, the TMII area requires comfortable, safe, and eco-friendly mobility options for our visitors,” Acting President Director Ratri Paramita said.
“These two electric tour units from Paiton Energy greatly assist us in reducing emissions, maintaining clean and quiet air, and providing an enjoyable visiting experience,” she added.
The handover also involved the Jakarta Provincial Tourism and Creative Economy Office. Karentino, Head of the Sub-Division of Administrative Affairs for the Pavilion and Graha Wisata Management Unit, attended the ceremony.
Paiton Energy is an independent power producer majority-owned by Medco Daya Energi Sentosa, a subsidiary of Medco Group. RATCH Group and Nebras Power are also shareholders.
