Jakarta, ThedailyID — D4vd will enter the next stage of his murder case with a new legal team after three attorneys previously representing the 21-year-old musician withdrew ahead of his upcoming court proceedings.
Blair Berk, Marilyn Bednarski, and Regina Peter have officially stepped down from the case, according to AFP. The attorneys did not publicly provide a reason for their withdrawal.
Berk is a prominent celebrity attorney who has represented high-profile figures including Mel Gibson, Harvey Weinstein, Britney Spears, and Lindsay Lohan.
The Los Angeles County Public Defender’s Office has now taken over D4vd’s representation. The musician, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, was found eligible for appointed counsel and will be represented by public defender Walid Kandeel.
D4vd previously pleaded not guilty to the murder charge involving 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez. Her remains were discovered in September 2025 inside a Tesla registered to an address associated with the musician.
Prosecutors allege D4vd killed Celeste following an alleged sexual relationship and mutilated her remains. D4vd has denied the allegations through his not-guilty plea.
His next court hearing is scheduled for October 19. The case remains ongoing, and D4vd is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
