Jakarta, ThedailyID — Indonesia’s benchmark stock index closed higher on Monday, July 6, with the Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) gaining 40.28 points, or 0.69%, to finish at 5,916.
According to RTI Infokom, investors traded Rp9.43 trillion worth of shares during the session. Total trading volume reached 19.77 billion shares.
Market breadth remained positive, with 386 stocks advancing, 242 declining, and 155 ending unchanged.
Nine of the index’s 11 sectoral indices posted gains. The energy sector led the rally after rising 0.94%.
Meanwhile, two sectors finished in negative territory. The infrastructure sector recorded the biggest decline, slipping 0.18%.
Across Asia, major stock markets delivered mixed performances. China’s Shanghai Composite fell 0.06%, while Japan’s Nikkei 225 edged down 0.01%.
In contrast, Singapore’s Straits Times Index gained 0.27%, and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index climbed 1.14%.
European equities also traded higher. Germany’s DAX advanced 0.21%, while the UK’s FTSE 100 added 0.20%.
U.S. markets showed mixed movement. The Nasdaq Composite declined 0.80%, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 1.14%. The S&P 500 ended the session little changed.
